  • Lapis lazuli is treasured the world over for it's intense, deep rich blues, now carved and polished into a sphere displaying the internal layers of blue sodalite, pyrite and calcite throughout - includes a custom bespoke in-house Vosso fabricated brushed steel stand for interior display.
  • Lapis, 'Latin for stone', has been used by some of the most important artists of the Renaissance and Baroque, including Masaccio, Perugino, Titian and Vermeer. Exported to Europe in the Middle Ages it was ground into powder and made into ultramarine, the finest and most expensive of all blue pigments and was often reserved for paintings of Virgin Mary. Lazurite makes 25-40% a feldspathoid silicate mineral and usually occurring in crystalline marble as a result of contact metamorphism. The intense blue is due to the presence of the trisulfur radical anion in the crystal.
